The bones of the album were shaped and crafted in an attic and the body fleshed out and polished up in a fancy studio. The results of this approach can be heard in the edgy, rootsy sound of the vocals and the warm, rich depth of the sparse haunting arrangements. Multi-instrumentalist Delaney Davidson complements the songs with harmonium, percussion and the occasional banjo, while piano and dobro also make an appearance alongside gorgeous male and female harmony work.
Haunting, compelling, charming and eerily like a long-lost collection of timeless classics, Delaney Davidson & The Alpine Cretins will be of interest to people who enjoy country, blues and bluegrass music.

The Alpine Cretins formed in Bern, Switzerland in the dark winter of 2003. It began as an unlikely duo – singer Chessy Weaver (Phon Roll) and ex-Chch musician Delaney Davidson (Dead Brothers). The Alpine Cretins blend the classic country timbre of the Native American Chessy Weaver, with the darker song writing abilities of lone wolf Delaney Davidson. Their off beat harmony and bitter sweet production combine to form something quite unique. Add a top class string duo – a fiddler, Menic Ruttiman, and double bassist, Magot Fluck – and we come up with something irresistible… their debut album 'Pitch-Inst.-Master-Key-Chrom'.
